ISP proxy – the name’s got quite a ring to it.
Would it surprise you if I said they’re just rebranded datacenter proxies?
(They’re not)
As a matter of fact, they’re a fusion of datacenter and residential proxies that are lightning fast and resilient to detection.
But they don’t come without drawbacks.
In this guide, I’ll show you how ISP proxy servers work and what you can expect from them.
A Brief History
Before ISP proxies were born, there were residential and datacenter proxies (DCs). For sneakerheads and web scrapers, residential proxies have been the superior choice.
The only real complaint is speed, where datacenter proxies blow ’em out of the water.
And when it comes to cookin’ sneaks – it’s a speed thing.
So if someone were to find a way to get residential proxies to hustle like DCs…that kind of leverage would sell like game-worn Jordans.
That’s pretty much how it went down.
What’s an ISP Proxy?
ISP proxies live in datacenters, but it doesn’t say that on their address.
(Confusing for postal workers..)
So while they have the
- speed (up to 10GBps)
- bandwidth (unlimited)
- stable connection (no down-time)
- and static facility (one IP address forever)
of datacenter proxies,
..by contrast they have a residential IP address.
And consequentially gain more immunity to detection.
ISP proxies – what’s with the name?
They were given the name because their IP addresses come from internet service providers – like Verizon or Sprint.
Just like residential IP addresses do.
However, residential refers to having residence: you sign up for home or mobile internet, register your name, billing info, and then get an IP address from your internet service provider.
However, ISP proxies do not come from someone’s mobile phone or computer.
So calling them residential would be inaccurate.
How are ISP proxies made?
Let’s go back to the beginning.
When IP addresses come into the world, they get an IP announcement, which is like a big hey-what’s-up-everybody to the rest of the internet.
Internet service providers and dada-centers make this grand declaration on behalf of their little IPs. The news is then received by Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) who assign an autonomous system number (ASN) to the IP.
Think of it as a birthmark, or tattoo.
If the IP announcement is made from the leased line of an internet service provider, the little IP receives that ISP’s mark.
A cute little Verizon-shaped birthmark.
On the other hand, if the announcement comes from a datacenter – the IP is doomed to a life of scrutiny.
To conceive ISP proxies, you simply announce newborn IP addresses on a datacenter server that’s plugged into a private ISP circuit.
It’s a headache, so few people do it.
Best ways to use ISP proxies
You can use ISP proxies for most anything, but let’s be reasonable here.
They’re bred to cook.
In other words, there’s no need to run to Costco in a Lambo.
(Even if a global toilet paper shortage is imminent.
Just get a bidet. Your sphincter will thank me later)
Web Scaping and Data Collection
It’s totally doable, but an ISP proxy is a bit much. If you scrape too fast, you’ll risk burning your IPs.
Speed and ceaseless bandwidth make a handsome catch, but rotating residential networks are in closer cadence with this kind of task.
Create Multiple Social and eCommerce Accounts
You can, but nope.
It’s better in every conceivable way to create accounts with rotating residential proxies and manage them with fresh proxies.
Besides, most ISP proxies are reused so you wouldn’t want to host important accounts with them long-term.

This is where ISP proxies shine, and so we’ll explore how they can help fill your doorstep with sneaker boxes.
It’s useful to point out that not all ISP proxies are the same and that they have varying price models.
ISP DC sneaker proxies
- Captcha proxies are used to farm google activity, improve Gmail scores, and solve captchas/recaptchas.
- Retail proxies have a focus towards botting retail sites.
- Sneaker proxies are tested beforehand to ensure they work on listed footsites.
- Premium sneaker proxies are only used for sneaker drops. They turn off during down time.

The Benefits
- They’re really fast. Up to 10GB per second.
- Completely reliable. The fact that their power source is a datacenter means that they rarely shut down. 99.99% of the time, they work every time. (Sex panther)
- Unlimited bandwidth. Some providers charge by the GB, which may work for your style. Regardless, it’s more common to buy a bundle of monthly proxies that you don’t have to be data-stingy with.
- High level of trust. Due to their ISP tattoo, websites can’t tell them apart from residential devices. This is great because they receive the same treatment as people who aren’t botting.
- Rotate, or not. ISP proxies were once called static residential proxies because they don’t rotate like residential proxies do. However, you can still rotate them if you want to. Just set it up in a browser extension like Proxy SwitchyOmega or use a backconnect server.
The Drawbacks
- They’re really pricey. That’s what I’ve been saying..
- Not always fresh. They’re a headache to set up, so companies tend to get their mileage out of them. However, premium sneaker proxies only operate on drop dates – so those are fresh-ish.
- Limited locations. Datacenters are sparse, and ISP proxies only exist in a small number of them. Lucky for sneakerheads, those few are cozied up in the right places: New York, London, Chicago…
Where to Get ISP DC Proxies
You don’t see them too often – it’s a real burden to set them up. Most providers just buy them in bulk from the same few sources.
Then they call them cute sneaker-spiced names and throw them up on a bedazzled webpage.
Cook groups tend to buy whole blocks of ISP proxies to share amongst members. This of course makes them much easier on the wallet.
If you’re a lone wolf, you can rent them daily – but I wouldn’t expect any too-good-to-be-true deals to be…true.
